Scenic design for 'The night just before the forests' by B.M. Koltes, Rogaland Teater (Stavanger, Norway), Director Viktoria Meirik, opening night September 29, 2005.
A monologue; A man roams the city, searching for love. He talks in rest, in anger and in despair about his search for love in an hardened society. ‘The night just before the forests’ was an intimate performance with an actor in the cellar of the theatre, where I could achieve a maximum effect with a small budget. In the low cellar I created a night-club, a silvery room that could become ice-cold or frightening or intimate through the effects of lightening. The public was surrounded by a corridor of silvery-sparkling curtain, where the actor was running. The audience was sipping their drinks surrounding the steel dance-floor in such a way that the actor could touch them directly.
