Eintsje Libben

Setdesign of “Eintsje Libben” by Rients Gratema, direction Ira Judovskaja, Tryater, opening night October 10, 2008.

“Eintsje Libben” (“A small piece of life”) is about two old men who tell their story to a young girl. The stories are about the war, about what they have forgotten and lost. The décor is simple so as not to distract the attention from what these three people have to say. A pictural ouverture of shadows forms the start of the performance, images of what will come and what has been pass by in front of the audience. On the floor one finds a composition of knitten green sweaters, as a Dutch landscape seen from the air. But the sweaters represent at the same time small pieces if life, tied up to a whole. Nominated for the Theatre Audience price 2008-2009
