Concept and direction 'Please don't leave me', 1 to 1 performance in and around the former casino 'Las Vegas' in Rotterdam, première 10 juli 2004.
In 'Please don’t leave me' (2004) the spectator follows inividually an asylum seeker through the back streets in Rotterdam. The spectator hears on his headphones the voice of the asylum seaker Joseph Nguruziza. The man is roaming in the odd desolate city, sleeping under a bridge, searching for love. The spectator walks across deserted streets, smells urine, and feels the watching of dodgy people and streetwalkers. This amplifies the story heard on the headphones, the city and random people become supporting actors. The performance ends in a busy pub, where the audience can drink together with the one he followed. The text is based on ‘The night just before the forests’ by B.M. Koltes, There are now no photo’s of this performance. The photo’s shown are of the work of artist Bas Nader, inspiration for this performance.
